PetBudget is a free, informational tool that estimates the first-year, annual, and lifetime cost of owning selected dog and cat breeds, based on published cost data and the household details you provide. It is a planning aid only.

These Terms govern your use of petbudgetcalculator.com and the PetBudget cost calculator (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

All figures are estimates produced by a model using national average data and assumptions. They are not:

• veterinary or medical advice;
• an insurance quote, offer, or binding rate;
• personalized financial, tax, or legal advice;
• a guarantee of what you will actually spend.

Your real costs will differ based on your location, your specific animal, your choices, and unpredictable events. Always consult a licensed veterinarian and, for financial decisions, a qualified advisor. See also the disclaimer shown across the Site.

We compile data from third-party sources — industry associations, insurer data, published clinic and retailer pricing, government surveys — and refresh it periodically. We make reasonable efforts to keep it current and correct, but we do not warrant that any figure, source, or calculation is accurate, complete, or up to date.

“As is” clause. The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

You agree not to:

• use automated means to scrape, harvest, or bulk-download Site content or results beyond normal personal use;
• resell, redistribute, or create a competing product from our data or output without written permission;
• reverse engineer, probe, or attempt to extract the underlying model or datasets;
• interfere with or disrupt the Service, its infrastructure, or other users;
• use the Service in violation of any applicable law.

The Site's design, text, the methodology write-up, the compiled datasets, and the calculator logic are owned by PetBudget or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Third-party studies and data referenced on the Site remain the property of their respective owners; we cite them for transparency and fair use.

You may view, share links to, and quote short excerpts of Site content with attribution. Any other use requires our prior written consent.

The Site contains links to third-party retailers and resources. Some are affiliate links: if you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This does not influence the cost figures, which are derived from sourced data anchors.

We are not responsible for the content, products, pricing, or practices of any third-party site, and your dealings with them are solely between you and that third party.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PetBudget and anyone involved in creating or operating the Service will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, savings, or profits, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service or reliance on any estimate it produces.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PetBudget from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes to the Terms will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

We may suspend or restrict access to the Service, or to any user, at our discretion, including for suspected breach of these Terms.
